Introduction Of Pavapuri Tirth Dham

The peaceful and serene temple complex of Shri Pavapuri Tirthdham is like a spiritual paradise for the soul lost in the scorching wilderness. This impressive tribute to Jainism spread over 500 acres of land bordering the highway in the middle of Sirohi district of Rajasthan, India. The serene and peaceful complex is an excellent example of Jain architecture and structure. It is a pilgrimage destination for Jain devotees from all corners of the world. Shri Pavapuri Tirth Dham is an ode to Lord Shri Shankheshwara Parswanath. It is situated amidst the picturesque Aravali mountain ranges, in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan, along the Sirohi - Kandla Highway.

Sirohi district is a Holy Land graced by the divine presence of Bhagwan Mahavir who visited the sacred sites around this place during his lifetime. There are countless holy sites in and around Sirohi that attract believers from all over the world. This includes Jain temples as well as Shivalayas (Shiv Temples), which lends Sirohi an aura of religious faith and sanctity. It is this holy ambience that is shared by Shri Pavapuri Tirthdham.

The name Pavapuri is derived from the agricultural well named Pavada that existed on this site. Historically, Bhagwan Mahavir's holy site that included a water-temple was called Apapapuri. This name transformed into Pavapuri over time. The town set up by the K P Sanghvi Trust which includes the temple complex and the cow shelter lives up to the name of Apapapuri with its plentiful beauty and the serene surroundings. The blissful state of mind and peace experienced by the soul in Pavapuri cannot be put into words and can only be felt. The calm, beautiful, scenic and vast complex of Pavapuri sits ensconced amidst the contemplative Aravali range that sits like a determined yogi lost in meditation.

The awe-inspiring edifice of the Jain temple forms the main block of the Dhaam. The temple has been built in traditional Jain architectural style by skilled craftsmen and expert masons. This temple is constructed out of captivating pink stone and dedicated to Lord Parshwanath, spread over 90,000 sq. feet. The magnificent temple is a mark of veneration towards Lord Shankheshwara Parswanath and also a tribute to the unique ancient traditional craftsmanship and masonry of the region.

The temple consists of a pond that collects rainwater, which is then offered to the main deity. The 69 inch tall idol of Shri Shankheshwar Parshwanath presides over this temple complex. The beauty of this idol captivates the mind and soul and leaves one in raptures, basking in the divine presence of the lord.
