This includes Jain temples as well as Shivalayas (Shiv Temples), which lends Sirohi an aura of religious faith and sanctity. It is this holy ambience that is shared by Shri Pavapuri Tirthdham.

The name Pavapuri is derived from the agricultural well named Pavada that existed on this site. Historically, Bhagwan Mahavir's holy site that included a water-temple was called Apapapuri. This name transformed into Pavapuri over time. The town set up by the K P Sanghvi Trust which includes the temple complex and the cow shelter lives up to the name of Apapapuri with its plentiful beauty and the serene surroundings.
